Trainer's Profile
Kenray Tan is currently working in the Lecturer Management. He was a part time Trainer with ATC, conducting character and leadership building programmes for MOE schools. His strengths acquired over the years lies in the examination administration matters and the art of self-defence. He started his career in the auxiliary police force with Certis Cisco, a Security MNC in Singapore, and led a team of 15 officers protecting the Cabinet Ministers’ residencies. Discovering his passion to see people achieve their academic and training goals, he moved on to join the Private Education Industry, and joined KHE as a student relation officer, serving students at the front line with excellent customer services. He then moved on to an administrative role in SMF-IHL, joining the examination department, which his task ranged from liaising with Academic staffs (lecturers) on examination matters to enforcing the pedagogy needs of the assessments. He was also in charge of planning, hiring, deploying and briefing new invigilators, and had devised a competency assessment for new invigilators' recruitment. As a Presiding officer for the pool of 120 invigilators, Kenray was being respected and well cherished by both his senior and junior aged part-time invigilators under his care.

The stint with SMF laid a foundation for his teaching and training philosophy in a learner-centred approach through the conducting of invigilation briefing workshops, for the conducting of examinations, plagiarism and cheating matters. This then led him to join ATC, to conduct experiential learning programmes for the MOE schools. Although his audiences have evolved backwards from a more senior age group to the younger generation, he is able to meet the needs of all ages of learners.

Kenray holds a Bachelor Degree in Communications Management from Edith Cowan University, and is currently pursuing his last stint in the Master of Science (Management) from University College Dublin (National University of Ireland), a triple crown accredited university for business faculty. He was also a candidate for the Master of Arts (Instructional Design and Technology) from NTU/NIE for a short tenure. During his younger school time, he was also a prefect, and a student leader.

With his passion for education, Kenray had attained a Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers & Trainers (CIDTT) at a Professional level, making him an internationally certified private teacher/trainer in Singapore. The course had provided him both the basic pedagogy and andragogy knowledge for developing curriculums such as basic programme plan, and both formative and summative assessments. Apart from that, he had also attained his WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment (ACTA) (with exemptions) for competency based training. In his personal pursuit for a private lecturing career in the future, Kenray had also attained a Specialist Diploma in Applied Learning & Teaching with Republic Polytechnic (SDALT) on top of his post-graduate degree currently undertaking.

In sports previously, Kenray holds a National Coaching Accreditation Programme (NCAP) level 1 full cert for Karate from the Singapore Sports Council, and is certified for the NAPFA tester award. He holds a first degree black belt in Karate and was issued a letter of award from the Singapore Karate Federation. He had more than 10 years of experience in Karate-do and had taught kids ranging from 6 to 15 at community clubs years back.

In all, Kenray deeply enjoy his role as an enabler of learning and derives great satisfaction from the process and change he sees in the young learners and adult learners alike, whom he has the pleasure of engaging with.

With his strong conviction for self-development, continuous education, and life-long learning, his advocacy would be that every individual should keep on learning throughout their lives in order to keep abreast of the society. In the pursuit of the learning, he feels that one may find that the 'more they learn', the more 'they do not know', as knowledge is infinite in this world. In order to stay relevant along the phases of one’s lives, 'to learn, unlearn, and relearn' may be necessary.

Quite broadly, Kenray's passion for both Teaching & Learning(Education), and Training & Development(HR)has seems to create a fusion for the two. In this, his versatility has enabled him to switch between both, as and when necessary.
